GCPP

Program Overview

The Georgia Certified Plant Professional certification validates expertise in plant identification and horticultural knowledge. The certification consists of two comprehensive examinations designed to test both theoretical knowledge and practical plant identification skills.

Certification Requirements

Written Exam (90 minutes)

  • 100 multiple-choice questions
  • Passing score: 70 correct answers
  • Based on provided study manual content

Plant Identification Exam (90 minutes)

  • 100 plant specimens for identification
  • Passing score: 70 correct identifications
  • All possible specimens listed in study manual

Certification Process

1. Register ($165)

Registration package includes:

  • Comprehensive printed study manual
  • Access to online study resources
  • Testing fees for both exam components
  • One complete testing session

2. Prepare for Success

  • Review study manual thoroughly
  • Access online study materials
  • Practice plant identification skills
  • Familiarize yourself with test format

3. Complete Examinations

  • Both components must be passed within one year
  • Partial passes are retained for one year
  • Retake fee: $45 per component

Spring Session

  • March 21, 2025
  • Time: 9:00 AM – 1:00 PM
  • Location: TBA
  • Registration deadline: One week prior to exam date

Testing Information

What to Bring

  • Clipboard
  • Two #2 pencils
  • Arrive 30 minutes before exam start

Results

  • Scores emailed within 10 working days
  • Employer notification available upon request
